NNPD: Man used computer to solicit girl

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - A Fort Eustis soldier is accused of using a computer to inappropriately communicate with someone he thought was a 14-year-old girl.

The "girl" was really a Bedford County detective. The investigator contact Newport News police for assistance with this case.

Working together, they arrested Scott Anthony Fare, 30, of the 1800 block of Woodbridge Drive in Newport News the morning of Sept. 20. and charged with three counts of using a communications system for soliciting certain acts against a juvenile.

Fare was placed in the custody of the Newport News City Jail, but will be transferred to Bedford County for prosecution, according to police spokesman Lou Thurston.

According to Sgt. Brian Rhodes at Fort Eustis, Fare is currently assigned to the 7th Sustainment Brigade at Fort Eustis with the 510 Human Resources Command.
