DARE COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) - A charge of threatening a school in Dare County has been dismissed against a 26-year-old man, according to deputies.

On Feb. 11, the school resource officer at Cape Hatteras Secondary School was told about threats made against several persons at the school. Deputies arrested Stefan Schwartz for making a false report that mass violence was going to happen at the school, injury to personal property and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Thursday, the threat charge relating to the Cape Hatteras incident was dismissed, Chief Deputy Steve Hoggard with the Dare County Sheriff’s Office said. It will be addressed by the Dare County Grand Jury on March 18.

The other charges were “stipulated to and bound over to Superior Court of adjudication,” Hoggard continued.

Schwartz was also charged in connection to a breaking and entering incident at the Buxton Alternative School in 2009.
