SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - The mother of a 2-year-old girl who died after eating a drug out of a candy dish has been charged in her daughter's death.

Destiny Riddick was found unresponsive in July 2011 and pronounced dead shortly after. Investigators say she ingested suboxone kept in a candy dish at her step-grandmother and her boyfriend's home.

Kimberly Artis, 39 and Steven Bullock, 51 were arrested last June in connection with the toddler's death.

Thursday, Diana Klink with the City of Suffolk said Destiny's mother, 32-year-old Lakesha Lanika Riddick was arrested on charges of second degree murder, involuntary manslaughter and abuse and neglect of children.
