VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - A suspect tried to obtain money from a restaurant’s safe during a robbery Sunday, but the manager said no.

Jimmy Barnes with the Virginia Beach Police Department told WAVY.com the robbery occurred at Captain D’s located at 5670 Indian River Rd. Dispatchers said the robbery happened just after 9:30 p.m.

An unknown armed suspect entered the restaurant and demanded money from the register. After obtaining the money, the suspect said he wanted cash from a safe as well.

The manager refused.

Barnes said the manager suffered a slight injury during the robbery and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The suspect is described as a black male between the ages of 15 and 18 standing 5’6” to 5’7” with a thin build. He was wearing a navy blue hooded sweatshirt, jeans and black shoes at the time of the robbery.

Police are working to determine if there was any surveillance footage.
