NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - Police say a Newport News man was stabbed in the back by an 18-year-old acquaintance of his 15-year-old daughter.
According to Harold Eley with the Newport News Police Department, police responded to a stabbing just before 7 p.m. Wednesday evening at the intersection of Belgrave Road and Malden Lane.
Eley said the man in his early 60s is the father of a teen girl who had a protective order against the 18-year-old who stabbed her father. The two men had gotten into the fight and the older man was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police found 18-year-old Taren A. Burkett Wednesday evening in a car close to the scene of the incident. He was arrested and charged with aggravated assault against the victim and intimidation against the young girl.
Additionally, Eley said a 14-year-old girl and a 15-year-old girl from Yorktown were inside of his car at the time and said they were brought to Newport News against their will.
Burkett is facing two charges of abduction against those two girls. A third passenger, a 17-year-old male, was also in the car but he said he was a willing passenger.
