VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - A man was shot after two unknown suspects attempted to rob him early Monday morning, according to police.

Grazia Moyers with the Virginia Beach Police Department said the victim and a witness were in the parking lot of Bentleys located at 544 Newtown Rd. around 2 a.m. when they were approached by two unknown black males. The suspects then demanded property from the pair.

According to police, the victim attempted to push one of the suspects away and was punched. The witness reported hearing two to three gunshots and then found the victim sitting on the curb suffering from a gunshot wound to his buttocks.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
