NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - A 26-year-old man was shot several times during a robbery in Newport News Tuesday evening.

Harold Eley with the Newport News Police Department said officers were dispatched to the Olde Towne Market located at 39th Street and Marshall Avenue for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found the victim suffering from gunshot wounds to his abdomen, hit, thigh and ankle.

He was transported to a local hospital with reportedly non-life threatening injuries, Eley said.

According to Eley, the victim was shot by two robbery suspects. Witnesses told police they saw a black male with a dark complexion shoot the victim while a second suspect went through the victim’s pockets. Both fled the scene on foot.
