VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - A Beach man has been sentenced to spend 10 years in prison for sexually assaulting two young children.
According to Macie Pridgen with the Virginia Beach Commonwealth's Attorney's Office, Michael Orton, 26, was charged with two counts each of aggravated sexual battery and custodial indecent liberties.
Initially, he was sentenced to 30 years, but 20 years were suspended.
Orton pleaded guilty Aug. 14, 2012. The crimes occurred between Jan. 1, 2012 and April 18, 2012.
Pridgen says the two children were familiar with Orton and one of them had reported the abuse. In police interviews, Orton admitted to sexually assaulting the two children.
