NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - A man indicted for three robberies last summer pleaded guilty in court Monday.

According to Peter Carr with the U.S. Attorney's Office, Christian Johnson, 24, pleaded guilty to three counts of robbery and two counts of possessing and brandishing a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence.

Carr said Johnson could face up to 20 years in prison for the robbery charges and 32 years on the firearms counts.

Johnson committed three robberies between June 21 and July 3, including robberies of a check-cashing business in Norfolk and two 7-Eleven robberies in Chesapeake and Hampton.

Johnson was apprehended July 3 after allegedly leading troopers on 30-minute chase throughout several Hampton Roads cities and counties. According to troopers, Johnson was fleeing the 7-Eleven robbery in Hampton.
