NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - Police say a man who led officers on a high speed chase and ran from his vehicle last Friday was arrested Monday.

According to Holly McPherson with the Newport News Police Department, officers attempted to stop a vehicle for a suspected DUI at Mercury Boulevard and Jefferson Avenue just before 2:30 a.m. Friday morning.

McPherson says the man driving the vehicle led police on a chase into Carrolton's Eagle Harbor Apartment complex. The man fled on foot from the vehicle and was not arrested until Monday with the help of Virginia State Police and the Isle of Wight County Sheriff's Office.

Michael D. Robinson, 27, was charged with reckless driving, revoked license and evade and elude police.

He was arrested at his Newport News home in the 13200 block of Aqueduct Drive Monday, Oct. 8.
