NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - Newport News Police have charged a man with several sex crimes against a child after a now 13-year-old girl reported being touched inappropriately for three years.
According to Lou Thurston with the Newport News Police Department, Leonard McKinley Bryant, 48, of Hampton is facing six counts of indecent liberties with a child and three counts of aggravated sexual battery in connection to the alleged events.
The victim told her mother she had been sexual assaulted by Bryant at her home between July of 2005 and July of 2008. According to the victim, Bryant touched her inappropriately on multiple occasions.
While the victim and Bryant were known to each other, they no longer have contact, Thurston said.
Bryant was arrested Thursday at his home.
