NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - Newport News Police arrested a man after a confrontation Thursday night.
Holly McPherson with the Newport News Police Department told WAVY.com officers responded to the 600 block of Adams Drive for a report of an unspecified problem. Dispatchers reported a male was on the phone laughing and requesting police assistance. McPherson said he would not say why he needed help.
When officers arrived on scene, a man identified as Carlton Bruce Willis would get close to the officers and yell at them, McPherson said. She added Willis refused to comply with officers’ requests to get back.
“At one point he pushed one of the officers in the chest,” McPherson told WAVY.com.
Willis reportedly struggled with police as they tried to arrest him. Willis, 23, has been charged with assault on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest.
