City's 20th homicide investigated in NN

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Newport News police are investigating the city's 20th homicide after an early morning shooting left one man dead and another injured.

Newport News police were called to the 500 blk. of Catina Way around 3:23 Wednesday morning. Upon arrival, officers discovered two male shooting victims. One was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body and head, while another was suffering from a gunshot wound to the foot.

Both men were transported to Riverside Regional Medical Center for treatment. 29-year-old Christian Kendrick Hatch was pronounced dead at the hospital a short time later. The second victim, a 19-year-old Newport News man was treated and released.

A preliminary investigation indicates gunfire erupted outside one of the victims' home, striking both men who were inside.

Suspect information has not yet been released.
