HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) - The Hampton Police Division is asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating a man responsible for robbing a Food Lion Tuesday.

Just after 7 a.m., an unknown black male entered the Food Lion located in the 4000 block of West Mercury Boulevard and demanded money while displaying a handgun, Sgt. Jason Price with the Hampton Police Division said. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect fled on foot toward the back of the building.

The suspect is described as standing 5’11” and weighing 200 pounds. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black coat with blue sleeves, black pants, black baseball hat with a white letter “M” on the front, black backpack with gray reflective material, black gloves and a black mask.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP or the Hampton Police Division at 757-727-6111.
