NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - A Newport News man and his girlfriend were arrested after officers say they discovered a gun concealed in a baby stroller.
Police were dispatched shortly before 11 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4 to the area of 21st Street and Wickham Avenue for a call about a man in possession of a firearm. The caller said he was with a woman pushing a baby in a stroller.
According to Holly McPherson with the Newport News Police Department, officers arrived to the scene and found a handgun inside of a bottom storage compartment of the stroller.
McPherson says 21-year-old Simon Terrell Quartlbaum of the 1100 block of 16th Street was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a felon. His girlfriend, 22-year-old Brittany Jamal Thomas of the 3300 block of Sunnyside Drive in Hampton, was issued a criminal summons for carrying a concealed weapon.
