CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) - A 16-year-old has entered a guilty plea for two charges in connection to an attack on an ex-NFL player in October of 2011.
Ed Beard, former linebacker for the San Francisco 49ers, was beaten by a group at the intersection of Freeman Avenue and Varsity Drive. He told WAVY.com he tried to break up a fight on an elementary school baseball field when he was attacked.
Beard reportedly suffered a concussion. Five teens were arrested and charged in the attack.
Lori Galbraith with the Chesapeake Commonwealth Attorney's Office told WAVY.com one of the teens, a 16-year-old, pled guilty Thursday to malicious wounding and malicious wounding by a mob. The teen will be sentenced on Jan. 18.
In May, James Richardson-Jackson pled guilty to malicious wounding by a mob and recruiting for a gang as well as two other charges in connection to the attack.
Three other juveniles are still scheduled to stand trial.
