JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) - Technology helped police locate a James City County burglary suspect.

Michael Joseph Morris, 37, is accused of kicking in a door at a time share unit on Indian Fields Way in Williamsburg Plantation the night of Jan. 16. Police say stole a 40-inch flat screen television.

James City County police had previously installed a small tracking device in the television set, following previous break-ins at the complex.

Using the GPS technology, police tracked down Morris at his home in the 100 block of Raleigh Street. Morris saw the officers approaching and fled out a back door, but the officers quickly caught up with Morris and took him into custody.

Investigators later searched Morris' home and discovered several televisions and other property they believe to be stolen. Additional charges are pending, according to Major Stephen Rubino.

Morris is being held at the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail without bond.
