PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - A man wanted in connection to a triple homicide in George was captured in Portsmouth Thursday night.

U.S. Marshals say Brian Levern Gupton, 32, was wanted by the DeKalb County, Georgia Sheriff’s Ofice in connection to the November, 2012 killings. The slayings stemmed from a bad drug deal where Gupton had money stolen from him, U.S. Marshals added.

According to U.S. Marshals, Gupton confronted three people he thought stole the money and shot them to death in a parking lot.

Thursday, his vehicle was spotted on London Boulevard in Portsmouth. Around 9:30 p.m., he was seen getting into the vehicle, the Marshals said. When police tried to conduct a traffic stop, Gupton reportedly got out of the vehicle and tried to flee on foot.

He was later found hiding under another vehicle and taken into custody without incident.
