Franklin man charged with raping child

FRANKLIN, Va. (WAVY) - A 53-year-old man is behind bars accused of raping a girl under the age of 13 between September and November.
Lt. T.J. Whitt with the Franklin Police Department told WAVY.com officers arrested David Laine Stith on charges of rape of a child under 13, sodomy of a child under 13, taking indecent liberties with a child, abduction and possession of cocaine.
According to Whitt, the victim’s mother notified police after she noticed her daughter acting differently. Her daughter then reportedly told her mother what happened with Stith.
Further investigation revealed the crimes occurred between September and November. Stith remains incarcerated at Western Tidewater Regional Jail.
