CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) - An inmate whose escape resulted in the firing of two deputies has pleaded guilty, according to Chesapeake Circuit Court documents.
Clancy D. Starling escaped June 11 and was apprehended June 20. Police say no one noticed Starling had escaped until a day later during a headcount at 6 a.m. Four inmates face additional jail time for aiding Starling in his escape.
Officials say Starling was sentenced on a probation violation that includes two counts of burglary and two counts of larceny. He has 15 years left to serve. He was also sentenced to two years for grand larceny on Virginia Beach charges.
Starling was apprehended in Richmond.
