Man and woman shot sitting in car

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) - A man and a woman are suffering non-life threatening injuries after being shot while sitting inside of a car in Hampton Friday.

According to Mary Shackelford with the Hampton Police Division, the shootings were reported at approximately 6:20 p.m.

Shackelford said the two were shot while sitting in a car in the 700 block of Childs Avenue. The woman was shot in the lower and upper torso multiple times and remained in the car.

The male victim was shot once in the upper body and managed to get out of the vehicle to seek help. He was found by police in the 700 block of Hemlock Avenue.

Shackelford said both were taken to a local hospital. Both are suffering from non-life threatening wounds.
