Deputies: IOW homeowner in custody

ISLE OF WIGHT, Va. (WAVY) - A Smithfield homeowner was taken into custody Thursday evening following a stand-off with police throughout the day.

According to the Isle of Wight Sheriff's office, crews received a call from a concerned citizen shortly after 11 a.m. about "disarray" within a home in the 16000 block of Bob White Road. The caller said the windows of the home were open and it did not appear as though anyone was there.

When deputies got to the scene, the say the homeowner was inside of the home and refused to come out.

The situation cleared by 8:30 p.m. and the homeowner was taken into cutody. According to deputies, criminal charges are not pending.
