VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - A car alarm helped catch a man accused of stealing items from vehicles in Virginia Beach Tuesday morning.
Grazia Moyers with the Virginia Beach Police Department said officers received a call for a possible larceny in the 1700 block of Chase Point Circle around 12:30 a.m. after a resident heard his alarm and saw a suspect near a vehicle. The suspect was seen pulling on door handles.
When officers arrived on scene, they found the suspect, identified as David Thomas Leffler, 31, of Pennsylvania, and took him into custody. Leffler has been charged with two counts of third offense petit larceny and drunk in public.
Moyers said an investigation revealed several vehicles had been rummaged through and items ranging from deodorant to cigarettes were taken. Only two victims have been located and police are searching for others.
Anyone who may have been a victim should call the Virginia Beach Police Department.
