CHESAPEAKE, Va. - Chesapeake police are looking for a suspect accused of stealing a woman's wallet at a business located in the 1400 blk. of Greenbrier Parkway.
According to police, the suspect entered the business and removed a wallet from the victim's purse at around noon on October 2. The victim left her purse at the front desk, walked away and came back to notice a short time later her wallet was stolen. The suspect had already left the business. The victim immediately contacted Chesapeake Police to report the theft.
Just recently, the victim contacted her bank and was advised that her credit card had been used at local retailers. Police say the purchases totaled more than $200.00 at each location.
Officers responded to one of the retail stores and retrieved a surveillance photograph of the suspect. The victim was able to identify the suspect from the surveillance photograph as the same man who entered the business asking for assistance (photos attached to the left).
Police say a similar incident occurred on October 21 at a business located in the 1300 blk. of Executive Blvd. Police were also able to secure a surveillance photo (posted left) of that suspect.
It's believed that the suspect in both incidents is the same individual. He is described as a black male, 5'8"-5'10" 160-179 lbs, black hair, brown eyes, with a medium build. If anyone has information about the identity of the suspect they are asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
