Bond set for theater scare suspects

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Two men who police say were wearing clown masks as they ran through a Virginia Beach movie theater Monday evening have been granted bond.

Blake Newton and Jamar K. Washington, Jr. were each granted bonds with several conditions, Macie Pridgen with the Virginia Beach Commonwealth Attorney's Office told WAVY.com. They cannot leave Virginia, have a curfew of 9 p.m. and cannot possess a firearm or other dangerous weapons.

Both cannot have alcohol or illegal drugs, must seek and maintain employment, cannot drive and must stay at the residence provided to the court.

Pridge said Newton was granted a bond of $7,500 while Washington was granted a bond of $10,000.

The pair was arrested following an incident at Regal Columbus Theaters on Constitution Drive on charges of wearing masks in public, a class 6 felony, as well as disorderly conduct for causing panic in a theater, a misdemeanor.

Washington was also charged with possession of marijuana, possession of a firearm while in possession of drugs and concealing a weapon while under the influence.
