MAPPSVILLE, Va. (WAVY) - Virginia State Police is investigating another arson on the Eastern Shore, this time in Mappsville.
Sgt. Michelle Anaya with the Virginia State Police said the latest arson occurred in the 1500 block of Metompkin Road Thursday. Troopers were alerted to the fire around 10:40 p.m.
The structure was an abandoned one-story inhabitable house. No one was injured in the fire.
More than 70 arsons have sparked on the Eastern Shore since November, 2012. Investigators believe the arsons are the work of a group working together, though some are thought to be copycat fires.
Anyone with information should call the Virginia State Police. There is a $25,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
