PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - A Portsmouth mother is facing neglect and abuse charges after her 8-year-old son said she wouldn't let him inside her home, according to Portsmouth Police.

Police say the boy was sitting on the curb around 9:15 p.m. Sunday night in wet clothes and had been outside for several hours before flagging them down.

Officers say they spoke with his mother, Tamiko Jones, who still wouldn't let the boy inside, so they arrested her.
