NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Suspended Old Dominion University football player Reid Evans was released on a $25,000 bond Tuesday, according to the Norfolk Sheriff's Office.
Evans' co-defendant Jack Ly was granted $50,000 bond on July 5, but it is unknown if Ly has posted that bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 6 in Norfolk General District Court for both, Amanda Howie with the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office in Norfolk said.
Ly was ordered not to contact Evans or the victim.
On July 2, Evans was ordered not to leave the state, not to contact his co-defendant and not to use drugs or alcohol.
Both men appeared in court for an arraignment on June 25, for an incident that occurred on June 17 in a campus dormitory. According to ODU spokeswoman Jennifer Mullen Collins, the female victims did not attend ODU.
Ly and Evans both face two counts of rape, sodomy and conspiracy to commit abduction.
ODU Football Coach Bobby Wilder suspended Evans indefinitely.
