Two-city car chase ends in crash

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) - Officials say a police pursuit that started in Chesapeake ended in Norfolk following a car crash at the intersection of St. Paul's Boulevard and Market Street.

According to Dorienne Boykin with the Chesapeake Police Department, police wanted to pull the suspects over for a traffic stop at Mallon Street and Berkley Avenue.

Police say the suspect vehicle led them on a chase to Norfolk, where they crashed into another vehicle, exited their car and ran away on foot.

They were apprehended shortly after the incident. No injuries were reported.

Kelly O'Sullivan with the Chesapeake Police Department said Tuesday the suspects have been identified as Frankie Jones, 23, of Virginia Beach and DeAngelo Wilkins, 22, of Norfolk.  

Jones, who police say was driving the car, has been charged with defective equipment, hit and run, eluding police and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Wilkins has been charged with trespassing, possession of marijuana, resisting arrest and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. 

Both are being held at the Chesapeake City Jail.
