Chesapeake Marine dies in Iraq

27-year-old Steven L. Phillips

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) - Lance Cpl. Steven L. Phillips, 27 of Chesapeake, died in Qaim, Iraq on Feb. 7, 2006 in a non-hostile vehicle accident while conducting combat operations against enemy forces.

He served active duty with the U.S. Marines with the 3rd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expedition based in Camp Lejeune, N.C.
