ONANCOCK, Va. (AP) - After a yearlong absence, ferry service will resume May 1 between the Eastern Shore and Tangier Island.
The director of the Eastern Shore of Virginia Tourism Commission attributed the return of ferry service to "the tenacity of folks from both sides of the water." Donna Bozza said the loss of ferry service last year hurt tourism across the Eastern Shore.
Tangier is a tiny island in the Chesapeake Bay.
