NC sheriff's deputy faces sex charges

CHOWAN CO., NC - A grand jury indicted a Chowan County Sheriff's Deputy on sex charges against a teen.

"The Daily Advance" is reporting that authorities charged William Whitehurst with having sexual conduct with a student, back in 2005. Whitehurst worked as a school resource officer at John A. Holmes High in Edenton at the time.

Whitehurst turned himself in Monday and is on administrative leave pending an investigation.
