Fatal motorcycle accident

EASTERN SHORE, Va. - Virginia State Police responded to the scene of a fatal motorcycle accident on Linkford Hwy., south of Cape Charles on the Eastern Shore Friday afternoon. The accident happened at around 2:36 p.m. 

Police say a 1999 Ford Taurus failed to yield the right-of-way out of a driveway and struck two motorcycles.

One of the motorcyclists, Karen B. Fortner, of Newark, Delaware was pronounced dead on the scene. Police say the second motorcyclist, identified as Justin Fortner, Karen's son, was flown to Norfolk Sentara General with unknown injuries.

The driver of the Ford Taurus, Dawn Marie Williams, of Cape Charles has been charged with Failure to Yield the Right-of-Way. Additional charges may be pending.
