RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — The head of Media General Inc. has been nominated for a seat on the news and entertainment company's board.
The company said Thursday that CEO George Mahoney has been nominated to stand for election at its annual shareholder meeting on April 25 in Richmond.
Mahoney took the helm of the Richmond-based company Jan. 1 after previously serving as vice president and chief operating officer.
Media General owns 18 network-affiliated television stations that reach more than a third of households in the Southeast. It recently sold the majority of its newspapers to focus on broadcasting.
Eight other directors are up for re-election. They include chairman J. Stewart Bryan III, vice chairman and former CEO Marshall Morton, and Diana Cantor, wife of U.S. House Majority Leader Eric Cantor.
