DETROIT (AP) — Michigan's Gary Peters has been named co-chair of the U.S. House Automotive Caucus.

The Democrat from Oakland County's Bloomfield Township said in a news release Wednesday that he will head up the bipartisan caucus alongside California Republican John Campbell.

The auto caucus was founded 30 years ago and works to advance policies that will help the domestic auto industry grow and create jobs.

It numbers more than 40 members, including 12 of the 14 members of the House delegation from Michigan. GOP Reps. Justin Amash (UH'-mosh) and Dan Benishek aren't members.
