NORFOLK, Va. - Michael Vick's bankruptcy attorney says the former NFL star could be moved from a federal prison in Kansas to a halfway house in Virginia by late January.

Attorney Michael Blumenthal said in federal bankruptcy court Tuesday that Vick's representatives have begun the process of gaining his release to the halfway house. The revelation came during a hearing on the disclosure statement Vick filed in his bankruptcy case.

A committee of Vick's major creditors objected to the statement, arguing that it lacked detail and provided no assurance that Vick will be able to resume his football career after his release. The suspended Atlanta Falcons quarterback is serving 23 months for bankrolling a dogfighting ring.

The bankruptcy judge denied approval of the statement and ordered Vick to submit a new one.
