Icy roads blamed for several accidents

SUFFOLK, Va. - Suffolk Police spokesperson Debbie George told WAVY.com officers worked five accidents Saturday morning, believed to be associated with ice on the roadways.

George said all of the accidents were minor.

Crews shut down several roads because of the icy conditions: Godwin Blvd. at Rt. 58, 3600 blk. of Bridge Rd –north
bound lane, Godwin Blvd at the Reids Ferry Bridge and the on ramp to Rt. 58 at
Pitchkettle Rd.

Department of Public Works’ road crews are currently addressing the black ice.

Police are urging drivers to use caution on all bridges and overpasses.
