VIRGINIA BEACH, Va - From his music to his moves, Hampton Roads is reacting to Michael Jackson's death, sharing memories of the "King of Pop." Some in the region have personal and professional connections to Jackson. A producer known as "Screwface" sat down with WAVY.com and spoke about his first interaction with Jackson.

"[Teddy Riley] gets him on the phone and I'm just like, this is Michael Jackson! I don't care who you are though, you are, if it's Michael jackson, that's Michael Jackson dog!"

The producer and artist manager said he and his buddy, Teddy Riley who once owned a studio in Virginia Beach, were working on a song and the King of Pop loved it. So, Screwface headed to New York to record with Michael Jackson.

Screwface said, "When I walked in and there was a bunch of stuffed animals - I mean huge human sized stuffed animals. I'd never seen anything like it. And there was candy everywhere. I'm looking at Teddy, and Teddy's like, 'Don't freak out.'"

He didn't, but admitted the process was a little intimidating.

"I'm used to working with artists, but not Michael Jackson. How do you tell Michael Jackson, 'That's a bad note, do it again?' And he was like it ok, no problem."

The song, "2000 Watts," which was co-written by Screwface, made it onto Jackson's Invincible Album.

Teddy Riley was still working with Jackson, as the pop icon prepared for a tour in London. Riley told WAVY.com from Los Angeles his friend had passion.

"When I talked to him he said, 'I'm ready to do it again.' It wasn't just about the concert, it was about the music and everything. He was like, 'I'm ready to do it again, let's get it,'" Riley said.

He added, "When I heard he passed away, it dropped my heart, my spirit, my soul. Everything just dropped. It's devastating."

Screwface said he'll remember the impact Michael Jackson had on music, and the life he put into his art.
