NORFOLK, Va. - Two local DMVs will close for business for a few days this week causing an inconvenience for customers, but the DMV says it's necessary.
An empty parking lot at the Norfolk Poplar Hall DMV office meant most people got the message, but WAVY.com caught up with a few who didn't.
The Poplar Hall location will stay closed through Tuesday, June 16, in order to get ready for the states new driver's licenses.
But for DMV customer Joe Mustart, who came to the location to help his 95-year-old mother update her license, a locked door meant a big inconvenience. "I came from Kempsville, but I made a purpose to get up early, so that we could be here early," said Mustart.
Customers who use the DMV on North Street in Onancock on the Eastern Shore will find the office closed Tuesday, June 16 and Wednesday, June 17.
All 74 DMV offices in the Commonwealth will convert to the new license system by the end of July, 2009.
