NORFOLK, Va. - Talk about hardcore football fans -- and this team hasn't even played its first game. Hundreds of folks, student and fans, camped out on the campus of Old Dominion University (ODU) overnight, just to be the first to get their hands on tickets to the university's first football game.
4,000 tickets were made available at the Ted Constant Convocation Center. That said, the hundreds of student who camped out overnight really didn't have to. There were plenty of tickets to go around.
Foreman Field holds almost 20,000 people. And ODU officials tell WAVY.com they sold just over 14,000 season tickets.
The students we spoke to said, "We are very insane. We love football." Or, "Whoever's not out here is insane." Some even chanted, "ODU, ODU, ODU!"
So, while they may not be lining up for class - they certainly are in line with showing some school spirit.
ODU's first game is on September 5.
