PORTSMOUTH, Va. - A judge found Bobbitt Jermal Gladney guilty of Attempted Capital Murder of a Law Enforcement Officer and more Monday morning. On March 9, Portsmouth police responded to a call of a man firing a shotgun outside a home.
Police found Gladney standing in the doorway of his grandmother's Eisenhower Circle home with a shotgun. Gladney shot up his car, then, when police told him to put down the shotgun, he opened fire at Officer Ron White.
White was the first policeman on scene and suffered twenty birdshot pellets to his head, all of them lodging under his skin. As White was rushed to the hospital, other officers arrested Gladney.
In court Monday morning, Gladney declined to take the stand in his own defense. The judge found him guilty of Attempted Capital Murder, two counts of Use of a Firearm, and one count of Aggravated Malicious Wounding.
Gladney's sentencing is set for February 12.
