With a little over two weeks to go before the start of school, more than 100 volunteers, along with nearly 400 Christopher Newport University students and staff will team up to work with schools, non-profit agencies and churches to get schools ready for students.
On Thursday, the volunteers will also help to clean up public areas and assist the elderly in maintaining their yards.
The Southeast Communtiy Weed & Seed project regularly brings area residents and agencies together to increase the neighborhood's ability to work together and cope with community issues.
