Virginia Beach-based sailor killed

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - A locally based sailor was killed in Afghanistan, according to the Department of Defense.

Dion Rashun Roberts, 23, was killed in a single-vehicle accident in Jalalabad. Gunners Mate 2nd Class Roberts was a native of North Chicago, Illinois.

The Lake County News-Sun reports he is the first native of North Chicago to die in the War on Terror. According to the Illinois newspaper, Roberts was killed during a training exercise and was scheduled to return next month from a six-month deployment.
