VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - This year's 2011 TIdewater Veterans Day Parade in Virginia Beach is set to be one of the biggest parades yet.

According to a release, more than 88 units with multiple components and equipment have signed up to march or perform during this year's annual parade.

The parade started Friday at 9 a.m. at 16th Street and Atlantic Avenue, and will end at the Tidewater Veterans Memorial at 19th Street, across from the Virginia Beach Convention Center.

Following the parade, a formal ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. at the Tidewater Veterans Memorial, where there will be a wreath laying, a salute to veterans and a flyover with aircraft from Military Aviation Museum - Pungo Airport.

After the formal ceremony, a separate brief ceremony will take place behind the memorial in the William L. "Billy" Myers, Sr., Veterans Memorial Park to recognize veterans whose names have been inscribed on brick pavers and added to the park since Memorial Day.

WAVY News 10 has a crew at the parade. Look for more updates on-air and online.
