VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) - Military and civilian officials honored the memory of the Pearl Harbor attack at a ceremony in Virginia Beach.
The 69th anniversary of the attack was marked Tuesday at the Pearl Harbor Monument at the Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story. The ceremony began promptly at 12:55 p.m. -- the exact time of the Japanese attack in 1941.
The base's Pearl Harbor memorial was dedicated in 1990. An expansion 11 years later included 184 names of known local survivors the attack.
There are 25 survivors remaining, associated with the local Pearl Harbor Survivors Association (PHSA).
