NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - USS Montpelier (SSN 765) returned to Naval Station Norfolk Friday after a six month deployment.

The submarine's crew of 15 officers and 129 enlisted is under the command of Cmdr. Thomas A. Winter.

"The crew is excited to return home to Norfolk, and looking forward to reunions with family and friends," said Winter. "After six months under the waves, the crew is especially eager to take advantage of the many outdoor activities available in the Hampton Roads region."

During deployment, the fast attack sub steamed more than 36,500 nautical miles. Among the ports visited were Haakonsvern, Norway; Faslane, Scotland; and Rota, Spain.
