NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - USS Carr and USS Ponce departed from the same pier at Naval Station Norfolk Friday, an hour and a half apart.
USS Carr (FFG 52) is deploying to the 4th Fleet area of responsibility in the Caribbean Sea, Central and South American region to support civilian and national law enforcement efforts.
Cmdr. Patrick Kulakowski will lead the crew on its six-month deployment. USS Carr is scheduled to be decommissioned in March.
USS Ponce has be refitted as an Afloat Forward Staging Base, and deployed to the 5th Fleet area of responsibility. The ship will support embarked personnel while at sea, and is under the command of Capt. John Rogers.
