NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Local students and veterans joined forces with the Culinary Institute of Virginia to make a very special meal for wounded warriors.
Current or former military members make up about one-third of CIV's student body.
Many of them volunteered their time to treat 25 wounded soldiers to a special lunch at the VA Hospital in Hampton Wednesday.
"My measurement of success is the fact that everyone involved with this is having fun. It's not work for them. It's not an additional duty. It's something everyone of the these students and faculty has done voluntarily to say thank you," said Wade O'Neil with the Culinary Institute of Virginia.
The school plans to officially designate February 22 "Dining for Veterans Day."
