NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - William Shatner is not attending the USS Enterprise's retirement, after all.

A publicist for the actor told The Virginian-Pilot the former commander of the fictional starship Enterprise is abandoning plans to attend the ceremony Saturday at Norfolk Naval Station. He announced earlier he would be attending.

The Enterprise returned to Norfolk from its final deployment earlier this month. Saturday's inactivation will be its last public ceremony.
