PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A memorial service has been scheduled for Saturday for a Marine from Providence killed in Afghanistan two weeks ago.

The remembrance for Lance Cpl. Abraham Tarwoe will begin at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church in Providence. The Providence Journal reports that Tarwoe's body will be flown on May 5 to his native Liberia, where a funeral and burial are planned.

The 25-year-old Tarwoe died on April 12 from wounds he suffered during combat operations in Afghanistan's Helmand province. The military hasn't released details of the circumstances of his death.

Tarwoe was based at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina and assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force.
